Overseas students wishing to travel to the UK on a student visa

The UK Border Agency (UKBA) requires that overseas students obtain the appropriate Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) from a Tier 4 institution in order to undertake full time studies in the UK. The UKBA monitors Tier 4 institutions and students to ensure that everyone is complying with the UKBA rules and regulations. Prospective students should visit: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/studyingintheuk/ for the latest information.
Working in the UK during your studies
If you applied for entry clearance or leave to remain on or after 6 April 2010 you will normally be able to work a total of 10 hours paid employment per week during term time. All students can normally work full time during term breaks. These requirements could change and the UKBA monitors this requirement diligently therefore please refer to the UKBA website for the most up-to-date information. Please note that student visitors cannot work in the UK.
Working in the UK after completion of studies

Full-time Course:
Students will study for a minimum of three papers each term, thereby completing the course in 12-18 months.
The International variant is offered on Papers 1, 3 and 6
Paper 9 is the UK variant
Paper 8 is currently not offered

A student booking for all 9 papers are offered a package price of £3300.
An international student must book for the number of papers outstanding to complete their CAT studies.

Changes to CAT Qualification from 2011

ACCA has announced a new entry-level suite of awards – Foundations in Accountancy – which will be first examined in December 2011. Foundations in Accountancy consist of a suite of awards, including certificates, diplomas and a revised Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) Qualification.
First registrations will commence from January 2011

LCA will only be enrolling International students requiring a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies for the Certified Accounting Technician Award and not for other parts of this new suite of awards.
