MSc in Business Management (MBM)

Course Objective
To provide a wide-ranging business-focused Masters degree for candidates who are academically qualified candidates but who have only limited   business experience.

Course format
The entire course consists of 11 modules, presented in a stepped format 

  • The first 4 modules lead to a Postgraduate Certificate (PGC)
  • The first 8 modules lead to a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
  • All 11 modules lead to an MSc in Business Management

Module content
The MSc in Business Management comprises of 180 credit points.  Each module is worth 15 credit points other than the final-stage Integrated Case Study which is credit rated as 30 credit points.  

Students who do not complete the MSc may exit their studies with a Postgraduate Certificate in Business Management or a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management.  

The Postgraduate Certificate requires the successful completion of four 15 credit point modules (60 credit points total).  The Postgraduate Diploma requires successful completion of eight 15 credit point modules (120 credit points total) one of which must be Entrepreneurship and Business Development.  

There are no pre-requisites within the MSc other than the Integrated Case Study module, which can only be attempted after completing the study of (or being exempt from) at least eight modules.

Assessment method
Students are primarily assessed through end of semester examinations. However some modules are assessed by assignments and presentations. The final module takes the form of a real-world case study exam.

Courses start in January, May and September of each year

Course duration
The complete masters course can be undertaken over either 16 months (accelerated course) or 24 months

Entry requirements:

  • Any academic or professional qualification that is equivalent to a UK undergraduate degree. 
  • Non UK/EU students will also require a minimum IELTS (or equivalent) score of 6.5.
  • Relevant work experience is desirable, but is not a course requirement

Exemptions
Applicants with relevant academic or professional qualifications may be eligible for exemptions from specific course modules. Each module exemption granted will reduce the published course fee by £400

The fee for all courses of 8 months duration is payable in full at the time of booking. For course durations of longer than 8 months, a minimum deposit of 50% the relevant course fee is required at the time of booking. The balance of the tuition fee for the course booked is payable within 3 months of course commencement.
